Updating sprint towers
To manually update your phone's towers, power off the device and remove the SIM card. Updating your Verizon phone programs the device with the preferred roaming list (PRL).
If this is done regularly, you will enjoy the best possible service with Verizon.
Updating your phone once a month will ensure that you always have the best Sprint connections available no matter where you may be. Ask them to flag your account for the Preferred Roaming list.
Your account has to be flagged in order for you to be able to update your phone.
However, you can manually force an update if you feel the automatic process has failed.
Some signs that your phone needs to be updated are a larger number of dropped calls and a drain on your battery. Your phone will automatically update to the nearest towers.
A message will appear on the screen when the process is finished, which can take up to two minutes.
Updating your Sprint cell phone ensures that your phone recognizes all of the available nearby towers.

Updating the cell phone tower on your phone requires that you update the PRL (Preferred Roaming List) on your device.
Updating the PRL locates the nearest cell phone tower in your area that can provide you with the best signal to make calls and send and receive data.
